Visa processing times
The Embassy or Consulate General of the Russian Federation consider visa applications and decide whether or not to issue a visa within the time-frame stated for the type of visa requested (usually between 4 to 10 calendar days), once a full set of documents has been provided and the consular fees paid.
In some cases the consulate may vary the time-frame for considering a visa application.
In the event of an emergency when there is an urgent need to obtain an entry visa for the Russian Federation, an urgent visa application may be submitted, in which case the time-frame for considering the application can be shortened to just 3 business days or less, if an order has been given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Federal Migration Service of Russia or the Ambassador or Consul General of the Russian Federation.
In addition to this, the General Consulate of the Russian Federation may, if necessary or on a reciprocal basis, take longer time to consider a visa application – up to 30 days.
When documents are submitted at the Russian Visa Application Center, as part of an application for an entry visa to the Russian Federation, consular and a service fees are charged.
The consular fee is charged by the Consulate for consideration of the visa application. The consular fee may vary depending on the category of visa, type of visa, number of entries into the country required and the applicant's citizenship.
The service fee is charged by the Visa Application Centre for the reception, processing and submission of documents to a consulate and the delivery of documents back to the applicant.
Payment may be made directly at the Visa Application Centre in cash or by “Dankort”credit card.
The service and consular fees must be paid before the documents are considered and, if the consulate declines to issue a visa, the fees are not refundable.
You can find detailed information about the amount of the consular and service fees in the section Category of visa/Rates and time-frame.
